What if a story didn’t just describe the world — but helped us change it?

​In this workshop, we introduce Thrutopian storytelling: a writing and storytelling approach that starts from real societal and planetary challenges, but gives characters the agency, courage, and drive to create a better “now” and a better future. The genre is still relatively unknown, yet storytelling remains one of our most powerful tools for building hope, shifting perspectives, and inspiring action.

​The session is led by Yvette Larsson, a teacher and learning innovator. She teaches at IB/ISH, runs AHA (solution-oriented hackathons), hosts the unboxED podcast featuring conversations with learning innovators and creatives locally and globally, and recently founded ThinkX, an interdisciplinary think tank bringing together doers with a shared drive to make the world better.

​The session includes a short talk introducing thrutopian writing and why it matters now, followed by a hands-on workshop where participants identify an everyday challenge, connect it to a wider context (such as local Helsingborg challenges or the UN Sustainable Development Goals), and begin crafting a short story designed to create impact for the reader. We also reflect on how creative thinking and storytelling can support awareness and action—without falling into guilt or hopelessness.

​Language: The workshop language will be decided based on the participants (Swedish and/or English).
