Swedish Hunting Exam – Online Theory Course in English

Prepare for the theory test for the Swedish hunting certificate (jägarexamen) from home. This course combines online live sessions in English with independent studies using Swedish course books – ideal for those unable to attend an in-person course.

The course consists of 15 online sessions following a structured study plan. We meet on Monday evenings on Microsoft Teams, starting on 11 January 2027.

After your application you will receive further information a couple of weeks before the course begins. Links to join the online sessions will be sent to you by email.

How the course works

In the first session we introduce the course, and explain the studying plan and schedule. Before each subsequent session, you will read selected chapters independently.

Our weekly meetings include a review of the material, with time for questions, discussion and reflection. Your tutor will explain key topics and guide you through the course content.

To get the most out of the course and prepare for the theory test, you will need to set aside time for study between sessions. Your commitment and active participation are essential.

Course books

We use the Jägarskolan book package from Svenska Jägareförbundet, the Swedish Association for Hunting and Wildlife Management.

You will need to order the complete bundle yourself before the course starts. 

Please note that the books are in Swedish, while the online sessions are conducted in English. You will therefore need to be able to read and understand the Swedish course material.

To participate, you will need:

• A reliable internet connection
• A computer with a camera and a microphone
• Access to Microsoft Teams

Theory test and practical training

This course prepares you for the theoretical part of the Swedish hunting qualification. After the course, we will help you find a local examiner so that you can arrange to complete the theory test.

To obtain the full qualification you must also pass the required practical tests, including shooting tests. Studiefrämjandet offers practical training at local shooting ranges and can provide information about options near you.

The cost of practical training varies between shooting ranges. Further information will be provided during the course.
